Film and TV: opinions and "which"

Good answers always give an opinion and a reason. In Arabic, لأنّ (because) is followed by a noun or a pronoun ending.

Film and TV

فيلْم / أَفْلام film(s), مُسَلْسَل series, بَرْنامَج programme, الأَخْبار the news, أَفْلامُ الرُّعْب horror films, أَفْلام كوميدِيّة comedies, أَفْلامُ المُغامَرات adventure films, الرُّسومُ المُتَحَرِّكة cartoons.
مُمْتِع enjoyable, مُضْحِك funny, مُمِلّ boring, مُخيف scary, رائِع great, مُثير exciting.

Opinions with reasons

في رَأْيي ... = In my opinion ... أَعْتَقِدُ أَنَّ ... = I think that ...
لِأَنَّ = because. Before a pronoun it takes an ending: لِأَنَّهُ (because it / he), لِأَنَّها (because it / she), لِأَنّي (because I).
أُحِبُّ هذا المُسَلْسَلَ لِأَنَّهُ مُضْحِك = I like this series because it is funny.
لا أُحِبُّ الأَخْبارَ لِأَنَّها مُمِلّة = I don't like the news because it is boring.

الذي and التي (who, which, that)

Worked example

Translate: The series that I watch every evening is funny.

  1. The series: المسلسل (masculine), so الذي.
  2. That I watch it: أشاهده (the ـه refers back to the series).
  3. Every evening: كلّ مساء; is funny: مضحك.

Answer: المسلسل الذي أشاهده كلّ مساء مضحك.

Key idea

Opinions: في رأيي، أعتقد أنّ. Because: لأنّ + noun, or لأنّه / لأنّها / لأنّي. Who / which: الذي (masculine), التي (feminine and plural things), only after a noun with ال.
