Accessibility
Last updated 2 November 2026
We want every student to be able to use GCSE-ready, including students who use a screen reader, a keyboard, larger text or a dyslexia-friendly layout. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What you can change
- Light or dark mode, from the Aa button at the top of every page or the app's Settings.
- Text size: normal, large or extra large.
- Dyslexia-friendly layout: a plainer font with more space between letters, words and lines.
- Read aloud: questions and lesson text can be read out on most devices.
- Less movement: animations are reduced if your device asks for reduced motion.
Using a keyboard
Every page has a "Skip to content" link. In a lesson you can choose an answer with the keys 1 to 4 (or A to D) and press Enter to check it.
How we check
We test pages with automated accessibility checks (axe-core) at phone and laptop sizes, in light and dark mode, and by using the lessons with a keyboard only. Our last full check was on 2 November 2026.
Known issues
- We have not yet tested every page with a screen reader such as NVDA or VoiceOver.
- Some diagrams and videos are still being given fuller text descriptions.
Tell us about a problem
If something is hard to use, email hello@gcse-ready.org with the page and what went wrong. We aim to reply within 5 working days.
