As well as ir a + infinitive, Spanish has a one-word future tense: hablaré = I will speak. Foundation needs the singular forms; plural forms are Higher.

Formation

Keep the whole infinitive and add the ending. All verbs share the same endings.

Irregular stems

Same endings, different stem:
tener: tendré, hacer: haré, poder: podré, poner: pondré.
hay: habrá = there will be.
Higher adds saber: sabré, querer: querré, venir: vendré, decir: diré, salir: saldré.

Using it

Time phrases: mañana, el año que viene, en el futuro, la semana próxima.
Ir is regular in this tense: iré = I will go.
El año que viene iré a Perú.
Worked example

Translate: Next year I will have more free time.

  1. next year = el año que viene
  2. I will have: tener is irregular, tendr- + é = tendré
  3. free time = tiempo libre

Answer: El año que viene tendré más tiempo libre.

Key idea

Future = infinitive + é, ás, á (plural: emos, éis, án). Irregular stems: tendr-, har-, podr-, pondr-; habrá = there will be.
