Conversations need questions. In Spanish they are easy to form, and the written question mark goes at both ends.
Yes/no questions
Make a statement and raise your voice at the end. In writing, put ¿ at the start and ? at the end.
Tienes un perro. = You have a dog. ¿Tienes un perro? = Do you have a dog?
You can also put the subject after the verb: ¿Habla español tu padre?

Question words
Using question words
Question word + verb: ¿Dónde vives? ¿Qué haces los fines de semana?
¿Cuántos agrees: ¿Cuántos hermanos tienes? ¿Cuántas clases tienes?
¿Cómo es tu amigo? = What is your friend like?
¿Cuántos agrees: ¿Cuántos hermanos tienes? ¿Cuántas clases tienes?
¿Cómo es tu amigo? = What is your friend like?
Ask in Spanish: Where do you live?
- Where: ¿Dónde?
- you live: vives (tú form of vivir).
- Put the question marks at both ends.
Answer: ¿Dónde vives?
Raise your voice and use ¿...? for yes/no questions. Question words carry accents: dónde, cuándo, quién, cómo, por qué, cuánto, qué, cuál. Por qué = why; porque = because.
