Going to places: a + article
Directions
To a friend (tú): Sigue todo recto. = Go straight on. Gira a la izquierda / a la derecha. = Turn left / right. Toma la primera calle a la derecha. = Take the first street on the right.
Politely (usted): Siga todo recto. Gire a la izquierda. Tome la primera calle.
¿Está cerca? / ¿Está lejos? = Is it near? / Is it far?

Translate: In my town there is a library. I go to the swimming pool.
- In my town: en mi ciudad.
- there is a library: hay una biblioteca.
- I go to the swimming pool: voy a la piscina (feminine).
Answer: En mi ciudad hay una biblioteca. Voy a la piscina.
Hay un / una; no hay. To the: al (masculine), a la (feminine), a los, a las. Sigue todo recto, gira a la izquierda / derecha (tú); siga, gire (usted).
