el medio ambiente = the environment
la polución (pollution; you will also hear la contaminación), la basura (rubbish), el plástico, el cambio climático (climate change).

What we should do
Hay que reciclar. = We must recycle.
Se debe ahorrar agua y energía. = You should save water and energy.
Deberíamos usar el transporte público. = We should use public transport.
Se puede ir en bicicleta. = You can go by bike.

What I do
Reciclo el papel y el vidrio (glass). Apago el ordenador (I switch off the computer). Uso menos agua (I use less water). Voy al instituto a pie.

Translate: We must protect the environment.
- We must (general) = hay que
- protect = proteger (infinitive after hay que)
- the environment = el medio ambiente
Answer: Hay que proteger el medio ambiente.
Hay que / se debe + infinitive = we must; deberíamos + infinitive = we should. El medio ambiente = the environment, la polución = pollution.
