Spanish uses reflexive verbs to talk about getting on, or not getting on, with people.
Getting on
Me llevo bien con mi madre. = I get on well with my mother.
Me llevo mal con mi hermano. = I get on badly with my brother.
Me peleo con mi hermana. = I argue (fight) with my sister.
Me llevo mal con mi hermano. = I get on badly with my brother.
Me peleo con mi hermana. = I argue (fight) with my sister.
Reflexive pronouns
The pronoun matches the subject.
Giving reasons
Add porque es + adjective.
Me llevo bien con mi padre porque es simpático.
Me llevo bien con mi padre porque es simpático.
Translate: I argue with my brother because he is annoying.
- I argue with = me peleo con
- my brother = mi hermano
- because he is annoying = porque es pesado
Answer: Me peleo con mi hermano porque es pesado.
Reflexive verbs need me, te, se, nos, os, se. Me llevo bien con = I get on well with. Me peleo con = I argue with. Add porque es... for reasons.
