In a shop you point at things, ask which one and how much. That means ce, quel and big numbers.

Clothes and shops

un pull (jumper), une robe (dress), une veste (jacket), une chemise (shirt), un pantalon (trousers), des chaussures (shoes).
cher (expensive), pas cher (cheap), la taille (size).
Je voudrais ... = I would like ... (polite).

C'est combien ? / Ça coûte combien ? = How much is it?
20 vingt, 30 trente, 40 quarante, 50 cinquante, 60 soixante, 70 soixante-dix, 80 quatre-vingts, 90 quatre-vingt-dix, 100 cent.
Ça coûte trente-cinq euros.
Worked example

Say: I would like these shoes. How much is it?

  1. I would like: je voudrais.
  2. Shoes are plural: ces chaussures.
  3. How much: c'est combien ?

Answer: Je voudrais ces chaussures. C'est combien ?

Key idea

ce (m), cet (m before a vowel), cette (f), ces (plural). quel agrees like an adjective. Je voudrais = I would like. C'est combien ? = How much is it?
