In town: places and directions

Describing your town and giving directions uses il y a, the little word à, and the command form of verbs.
Places
la gare (station), la piscine (pool), la bibliothèque (library), le marché (market), le parc, l'hôpital (hospital), le centre commercial (shopping centre), les magasins (shops).
Il y a = there is / there are. Il n'y a pas de = there isn't / aren't any.

Going to places
à + le = au: Je vais au parc.
à + la = à la: Je vais à la piscine.
à + l' = à l': Je vais à l'école.
à + les = aux: Je vais aux magasins.
à + la = à la: Je vais à la piscine.
à + l' = à l': Je vais à l'école.
à + les = aux: Je vais aux magasins.
Directions: the imperative
Translate: In my town there is a station but there isn't a swimming pool.
- In my town: dans ma ville.
- There is a station: il y a une gare.
- Negative: il n'y a pas de piscine.
Answer: Dans ma ville, il y a une gare mais il n'y a pas de piscine.
Il y a = there is. Il n'y a pas de = there isn't. au, à la, à l', aux for going to places. Imperative: drop tu or vous; tu forms of -er verbs lose the -s (tourne, va).
