The future tense says what will happen. It is shorter than aller + infinitive and impresses examiners.
Jobs and plans
un métier (a job), travailler (to work), gagner (to earn), devenir (to become), l'université, une formation (training, an apprenticeship), le lycée (sixth form / upper school).
Jobs: médecin (doctor), professeur (teacher), policier / policière (police officer), chanteur / chanteuse (singer), artiste (artist). No article: Je serai médecin.

Regular -er verbs
Irregular stems
aller → ir-: j'irai
avoir → aur-: j'aurai
être → ser-: je serai
faire → fer-: je ferai
Same endings: il ira, tu auras, elle sera, il fera.

Translate: Next year I will go to sixth form and I will study maths.
- Next year: l'année prochaine.
- I will go: j'irai (stem ir-).
- I will study: j'étudierai.
Answer: L'année prochaine, j'irai au lycée et j'étudierai les maths.
Future = infinitive (or irregular stem) + -ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont. Irregular stems: ir- (aller), aur- (avoir), ser- (être), fer- (faire).
