The listening paper has comprehension questions and a dictation. For the dictation, you need to know how French sounds are spelt.

Use the reading time to underline key words in the questions.
Watch for negatives (ne ... pas, jamais) and time words (hier, demain), which change the meaning.
In the dictation, check agreements: -s on plurals and -ent on ils verbs are silent but must be written.

You hear a sentence that sounds like "il a parlé". How might the last sound be spelt?
- The sound é can be é, -er or -ez.
- After il a you need a past participle.
- So it is parlé.
Answer: Il a parlé.
