Role models: comparing people
To compare people in Arabic, most adjectives fit one simple pattern: a + three root letters, like أكبر (bigger).
Role model words
قُدْوة (qudwa) = role model: أُمّي قُدْوَتي = My mother is my role model.
أَحْتَرِمُ (aHtarimu) = I respect. مَشْهور famous, شُجاع brave, قَوِيّ strong, مُجْتَهِد hard-working.
لِأَنَّها تَعْمَلُ بِجِدّ وتُساعِدُ الآخَرين = because she works hard and helps others.

The comparative
The superlative
Put the comparative before a singular noun with no ال: أَفْضَلُ لاعِب = the best player; أَشْهَرُ مُغَنِّيَة = the most famous singer.
Or use it with ال: هو الأَفْضَل = He is the best.
Or use it with ال: هو الأَفْضَل = He is the best.
Translate: My sister is cleverer than my brother.
- My sister: أختي.
- Cleverer: أذكى (same for feminine).
- Than my brother: من أخي.
Answer: أختي أذكى من أخي.
Comparative: أفعل + من (أكبر من, أطول من). It stays the same for feminine. Superlative: أفعل + singular noun without ال (أفضل لاعب) or الأفضل. قدوة = role model.
