My town and region: places and things to do
Describing where you live means saying what there is and what you can do there.
Places
مَدينة city, town, قَرْية village, الرّيف the countryside, سوق market, مَرْكَز تِجارِيّ shopping centre, مَتْحَف museum, مَسْجِد mosque, كَنيسة church, حَديقة park, مَكْتَبة library, مَلْعَب stadium, شاطِئ beach, نَهْر river.
There is, there are
يوجَدُ (with a masculine noun) / توجَدُ (with a feminine noun) = there is: يوجَدُ مَتْحَفٌ كَبير. توجَدُ حَديقةٌ جَميلة.
هُناكَ = there is / there are: هُناكَ مَطاعِمُ كَثيرة = there are many restaurants.
Negative: لا يوجَدُ مَسْبَح = there is no swimming pool. لَيْسَ هُناكَ ... = there isn't ...

Things to do and opinions
يُمْكِنُ أَنْ تَزورَ القَلْعة = You can visit the castle. يُمْكِنُ أَنْ نَتَسَوَّقَ في السّوق = We can shop in the market.
مَدينَتي هادِئة / مُزْدَحِمة / نَظيفة / جَميلة = My town is quiet / crowded / clean / beautiful.
أُحِبُّ السَّكَنَ في الرّيفِ لِأَنَّهُ هادِئ = I like living in the countryside because it is quiet.

Translate: In my town there is a big market, but there is no stadium.
- In my town: في مدينتي.
- There is a big market: يوجد سوق كبير.
- But there is no stadium: لكن لا يوجد ملعب.
Answer: في مدينتي يوجد سوق كبير، لكن لا يوجد ملعب.
There is: يوجد (m) / توجد (f) or هناك. There is no: لا يوجد. You can: يمكن أن + present tense. Describe the town: هادئة، مزدحمة، نظيفة، جميلة.
