Conversations need questions as well as answers. French has three easy ways to ask a question.
Three ways to ask
1. Raise your voice at the end: Tu aimes le sport ?
2. Put Est-ce que at the start: Est-ce que tu aimes le sport ?
3. Swap the verb and pronoun (inversion), with a hyphen: Aimes-tu le sport ?
All three mean: Do you like sport?

Question words
Using question words
Question word + est-ce que: Où est-ce que tu habites ? Qu'est-ce que tu fais le week-end ?
Or at the end in speech: Tu habites où ?
Pourquoi ? is answered with parce que.
Quel agrees: quel sport ? quelle matiĆØre ?

Ask in French, using est-ce que: Where do you live?
- Where: où.
- Add est-ce que: où est-ce que.
- you live: tu habites.
Answer: Où est-ce que tu habites ?
Ask by raising your voice, starting with est-ce que, or swapping verb and pronoun. Où, quand, qui, comment, pourquoi, combien, qu'est-ce que, quel / quelle.
