Celebrating success: إنّ and its sisters
Words like أنّ (that), لأنّ (because) and لكنّ (but) change the ending of the noun after them. Getting this right is a Higher-level skill.
Success words
نَجَحْتُ في الاِمْتِحان = I passed the exam. حَصَلْتُ على جائِزة = I won (got) a prize. دَرَجة عالِية a high mark.
شَهادة certificate, حَفْلُ تَوْزيعِ الجَوائِز prize-giving ceremony, فَخور بِـ proud of, تَفَوَّقَ excelled.

The sisters
With pronoun endings
These words often take an attached pronoun instead of a noun: لِأَنَّني / لِأَنّي (because I), لكِنَّها (but she), أَنَّهُ (that he / it), إِنَّنا (indeed we).
أَنا فَخورٌ بِنَفْسي لِأَنَّني دَرَسْتُ كَثيرًا = I am proud of myself because I studied a lot.
أَنا فَخورٌ بِنَفْسي لِأَنَّني دَرَسْتُ كَثيرًا = I am proud of myself because I studied a lot.
Translate: I think that my sister is proud of me.
- I think: أعتقد.
- That my sister: أنّ أختي (accusative, though not visible on أختي).
- Is proud of me: فخورة بي (feminine).
Answer: أعتقد أنّ أختي فخورة بي.
إنّ، أنّ، لأنّ، لكنّ، لعلّ + noun in the accusative (الامتحانَ) or a pronoun ending (لأنّني، لكنّها، أنّه). Success: نجحتُ، حصلتُ على جائزة، فخور بـ.
