Question 6: write 60 to 75 words, using four words you are given (10 marks).
Question 7: choose one of three titles and write 130 to 150 words covering four bullet points (20 marks).
Question 8: a grammar task: change ten words in brackets so that they fit the sentences (10 marks).
Questions 6 and 7 are marked for communication and content and for linguistic accuracy.

Questions 6 and 7

Cover every bullet point. Use a range of tenses: past, present and future.
Give opinions with reasons and link ideas (porque, pero, además, sin embargo).
Include more complex structures: cuando + subjunctive, si clauses, object pronouns.
Check agreements and verb endings.

Question 8: the grammar task

Look for clues in the sentence.
Time words: ayer (preterite), mañana (future), cuando era pequeño (imperfect).
The subject: who is doing it?
Adjectives agree with their noun: Las chicas son muy (simpático) becomes simpáticas.
Worked example

Change the words in brackets: El año pasado mis padres (comprar) una casa (nuevo).

  1. el año pasado = preterite; mis padres = ellos: compraron
  2. casa is feminine singular: nueva

Answer: El año pasado mis padres compraron una casa nueva.
