Everything you post, like and share leaves a trail. You can choose what kind of trail you leave.
What is a digital footprint?
Your digital footprint is the information about you that exists online because of what you and others post.
Posts can be copied, screenshotted and shared, so they can last long after you delete them.
Colleges and employers sometimes look people up online.

Protecting your identity
Check your privacy settings and keep accounts private.
Turn off location sharing in apps that do not need it.
Think before you post: would you be happy for a teacher or a future employer to see it?

Cyberbullying is using technology to repeatedly hurt or upset someone. Do not join in, even by liking or sharing.
If you see it: support the person, do not reply to the bully, block and report, keep the evidence and tell a trusted adult.
Ask before sharing a photo of someone else.

A friend posts a funny but embarrassing photo of you without asking. What can you do?
- Ask your friend politely to take it down.
- If they will not, report the photo on the app.
- Tell a trusted adult if it carries on or upsets you.
Answer: Ask them to remove it, report it if they refuse, and tell a trusted adult.
Your digital footprint is your online trail and can be hard to remove. Use privacy settings, turn off location sharing, think before you post, ask before sharing others' photos and report cyberbullying.
