Interactive periodic table
All 118 elements. Tap an element to see its atomic number, group and period, and the lessons that go with it. Groups are numbered the GCSE way: 1, 2, then 3 to 7 and 0 for the noble gases.

What the table tells you
- Atomic number is the number of protons in the nucleus. The table is in order of atomic number.
- Groups are the columns. Elements in the same group have the same number of electrons in their outer shell, so they react in similar ways.
- Periods are the rows. The period number is the number of occupied electron shells.
- Metals are on the left and in the middle; non-metals are on the right.
Relative atomic masses are printed on the periodic table you are given in the exam, so use that one in calculations.
